I will run the annual WOS Weekend to Clark County again for 2026. The main change is the last weekend of March rather than the first weekend of March, when weather often was a factor.
Clark County Weekend
Leaders: Randy Hill, Russ Koppendrayer, and Cindy McCormack
Dates: Friday, March 27 – Sunday, March 29, 2026
Friday March 27 is Cowlitz County with co-lead Russ Koppendrayer. Early arrivals will begin at the Kalama River Road Park and Ride at 09:30, with Kress Lake, Kalama River and south to wetlands heading toward Woodland. Main group meets at 12 noon at the Woodland Walmart parking lot (SW area) to carpool for a trip around the Woodland Bottoms until around 5pm. Saturday is the main day, with co-lead Cindy McCormack covering Ridgefield NWR, working south to Vancouver Lake and other areas west of I-5. Sunday includes co-lead Cindy McCormack covering areas east of I-5 that could include the Columbia River as far east as Steigerwald Lake. Depending on snow cover and access, a possible trip to higher elevation to the Yacolt Burn State Forest.
