Trip Accessibility: 1 (leisurely pace), C (sidewalks and hiking trails), approx. 1 mile walking.

Join us during Birdability Week for an accessible bird walk at Meadowbrook: entails flat walking on sidewalk and boardwalk, seating available partway through, and about a half mile of slow strolling together.

Meadowbrook Pond is a wonderful little sanctuary which features diverse wildlife, interesting foliage, sculptures and trails all integrated so that humans and wildlife alike can enjoy the surroundings. It also plays a very practical role, capturing sediment from Thornton Creek and reducing downstream impact. The natural area features a wetland, wildlife habitat and open space. Bridges and walking platforms extend across the pond enabling visitors to get closer to the wildlife living in and visiting the pond. We hope to encounter a mix of passerines, raptors, and waterfowl. A significant portion of the walk lends itself to finding birds by their sounds, enabling us to practice our birding-by-ear skills. Our route will cover no more than 1 mile and usually takes 1.5 hours, depending on what we see and hear. Dress for weather; bring binoculars, water & snacks. Over by 10:00am.
