Our headquarters for the conference will be the Exposition Hall at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds, which will be the venue for our programs, dinners and carpool organizing for field trips.
We have reserved blocks of rooms for attendees at two Astoria hotels: 1) Holiday Inn Express and Suites, at 204 Marine Drive, in Astoria. Phone: 888-898-6222. Riverview King or Double Queen: $170 + tax
Best Western Astoria Bayfront Hotel
Standard King (1 bed/2persons) $130 + tax
Standard Two Queens (2 beds/4 persons) $130 + tax
Both hotels are located along the waterfront at the base of the Astoria Bridge. They have each set aside a block of approximately 50 rooms for our attendees, and those rooms may be booked by phone or online. The rooms have the usual, expected amenities (Wi-Fi, refrigerator, etc.).
To reserve rooms at the block rate go to Holiday Inn Access Link or to Best Western Access Link
To get the block rate, reservations by individuals must be made no later than August 26, 2021. Any rooms not booked by the cutoff date will be released back into the hotel’s general inventory to reduce the group’s liability toward the used rooms. Once the rooms are released, group members can still make reservations at the best available rate offered by the hotel at the time of booking.
The other “major” hotel along the waterfront is the Hampton Inn and Suites Astoria, at 201 39th Street, Astoria (phone: (855) 214-4563; https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/astorhx-hampton-suites-astoria/ All these hotels are 10-15 minutes from the Clatsop Co. Fairgrounds, where field trip carpools will organize and where the evening events will occur.
There are many other hotels in the Seaside/Gearhart area, further south on the Oregon coast, as well as in or near Astoria. At the Clatsop Co. Fairgrounds (the conference programs venue) there are 25 RV sites with electricity and water hook-ups (no sewer), and about as many “boondocking” sites. The fee for hook-ups is $35/night and reservations are not required (i.e., first come first served). Please contact John Lewis, Operations Manager at the fairgrounds, (503) 325-4600 or jlewis@co.clatsop.or.us with any questions.
