1989 Moses Lake

Conference Summary

Author Unknown

This was WOS’s first Annual Conference.

As the founders were still getting organized, no one was assigned to write up a summary of the Conference. Therefore, in the interest of having a complete record of past conferences, we have chosen to print here the announcement of the upcoming Conference that was printed in the March 1989 newsletter.
ANNUAL MEETING SET FOR 12-14 MAY IN MOSES LAKE

The first WOS annual meeting will be held the weekend of 12-14 May at the Best Western Hallmark Inn in Moses Lake, overlooking a breeding colony of Clark’s and Western grebes. The event will feature programs, field trips, and the traditional banquet — if an organization not yet a year old can have tradition! Why not?

Curt Smitch, director of the Washington Department of Wildlife and a WOS member, will be the featured banquet speaker. We will introduce Curt to the joys and challenges of birding in Grant County.

Field trips are planned both Saturday and Sunday morning into the surrounding countryside, including an owling excursion to Blewett Pass. Workshop speakers include Richard Cannings, Phil Mattocks, Bill Tweit, and Terry Wahl.

A complete schedule and registration form is included.
