WOS/OBA Joint Annual Conference

September 16, 2021 – September 20, 2021 all-day
Astoria, Oregon

Spring has arrived, helping give us all a sense of hopefulness, and we are becoming increasingly optimistic we’ll be able to enjoy some time birding and socializing together at our next annual conference. The intention is to “reboot” the arrangements we had made for last September but had to postpone due to the pandemic. By next September all who wish to receive the vaccine should have done so, and gathering restrictions should be mostly lifted. We need to get together and have some fun!

The dates and location for this event will be September 16-20, 2021, in Astoria Oregon. We’ll be joining our colleagues in the Oregon Birding Association (OBA), and our “conference headquarters” will be the Exposition Hall at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. Hotel room blocks are being secured, a caterer is engaged, field trips are being finalized (please say “Heck Yes!” when you’re contacted about leading a trip!), a pelagic trip provider is ready to roll, and great speakers have committed to being with us (Dennis Paulson on Friday evening and John Fitzpatrick to Keynote on Saturday night). Please note that Oregon birders may join Washington trips and vice versa, so we’re hoping for lots of great interactions among members of both groups.

Please note that our respective boards will collaborate to make a final decision about whether we can proceed with this conference, COVID-wise, in late May. The health and safety of all our members is always paramount. Please consult our website, as well as WOSNews, for the most current information, and feel free to contact any board member with questions or concerns.

See you in September in Astoria!! — Eric Dudley DVM
