South end of Lake Coeur d’Alene, Benewah County, Idaho
Trip Leader: Charles Swift
Meet: 7:00 AM, Heyburn State Park Headquarters east of Plummer, Idaho
We will cover Heyburn State Park from Chatcolet to Benewah Lake, continuing east to St. Maries and time permitting north to Harrison. From Harrison participants can complete the loop around Lake Coeur d’Alene and return west via I-90 or backtrack the way we came.
Habitats covered include mixed conifer and riparian forest, marsh, and open water for a wide variety of regional resident and breeding species. We should expect to find close 100 species including some north Idaho specialities such as breeding Red-necked Grebes, Northern Waterthrush, American Redstart, and with a good chance for Least Flycatcher, and possibly breeding Black Terms if we get up to Harrison.
For questions contact the trip leader Charles Swift at email@example.com or 208-301-8173. Lodging and camping options are available in the area. Trip limited to ~12 participants following WOS guidlines, car pooling encouraged.
