David Fraser is a biologist, birder and sketcher who, 30 years ago, set off on a journey when an unknown birder’s notes came into his possession. These near daily bird observations which commenced in 1959 have proved to be key mileposts to recognizing changes in the avifauna of Vancouver Island where breeding records of Horned Larks, nesting locations for Western Bluebirds and records of other species are now rare or no longer found. In his presentation, Fraser demonstrates how entry of historic data such as these into eBird, can document significant changes in birdlife.
